Visit to Research Centre

Director of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research Grigory Trubnikov visited the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor ITER at the Cadarache Nuclear Energy Research Centre in southern France as a member of the Russian delegation headed by Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Plenipotentiary Representative of Russia at JINR Valery Falkov.

At the ITER site, the delegation examined key facilities, including the Radiofrequency Heating Building with gyrotron complexes and the Port Plug Test Facility. Negotiations were also held with Director-General of the ITER megascience project Pietro Barabaschi.

At the meeting, the parties discussed the opportunities for expanding scientific collaboration and also supported the initiative to perpetuate the memory of Academician Evgeny Velikhov, one of the initiators and leaders of the project, at the ITER facility.
