Young scientists and specialists make a great contribution to meeting the scientific and production problems facing the staffs of the Joint Institute. Many of them successfully unite scientific and production work with social activities. A young employee of the Department of LHEP Alexander Malakhov, working in the group of M. N. Khachaturian, has made a great contribution to the development of Cherenkov spectrometers that are one of the basic components of the Photon facility. He took an active part in the development of large scintillation meters, in the investigation of these devices on a particle beam and the processing of data obtained during the adjustment of detectors.

At present, about 400 people work in the JINR pilot production, embodying technical ideas and design ideas born in the laboratories of the Institute in metal and electronics. Large-sized, made with high accuracy, multi-ton products for laboratory orders, complex equipment for Aspect Scientific and Production Centre, orders for enterprises and organizations of the Russian national economy, installation work by specialists from Pilot Production at CERN - just a short list of a wide range of activities carried out in this production. Directorate of the Production Centre, responding to the rapidly changing market conditions today, constantly looks for new orders, expanding the scope of production. There is always one thing - JINR laboratories are prior among customers. So, only recently a lot of work has been completed for FLNP - the manufacture of a new movable reflector for IBR‑2 and this quarter, new work begins on the manufacture of a stationary reflector for the reactor and protection.
