Second wind of the JINR Sports Club

On 27 May, the JINR open weightlifting championship was held, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Institute. Before the start of the competition, the opening ceremony of the weightlifting hall was held after a major reconstruction. The ceremony was attended by JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov and Head of the SIM Office Andrey Tamonov.

“We have completed reconstruction and repair of the first floor of the Sports Club - gym, hall, weightlifting hall,” Director of the JINR Sports Complex V. N. Lomakin commented on the event for the weekly. “This was the final stage of its many years of reconstruction. A few years ago, the windows were replaced, later, the flooring of the second floor. At the final stage, a lot of work was done by the employees of the Property Complex Development Department and the builders of “Stroy‑2000”, our trusted contractor. All utilities were replaced, a pipeline that had not changed for 60 years and caused us great trouble. We changed all the electrical equipment, installed new control rooms, modern ventilation equipment, replaced the entire heating system.

The premises were redeveloped, as a result of which visiting the gym became comfortable: both the women's and men's locker rooms are now equipped with separate showers and toilets, there are toilets for sports on the street. The gym is filled with modern exercise equipment. The hall is decorated with cute mosaics and panels created by Mikhail Polyakov based on Soviet mosaics on the topic of sports and the design project was developed by Anastasia Sautina.
