They celebrated the birthday of the pool

On 24 June, an open swimming competition dedicated to the 52nd anniversary of the opening of the swimming pool was held in the JINR Swimming Pool "Archimedes". 280 athletes from Dubna, Moscow, Dmitrov, Sergiev Posad and other cities of the Moscow region took part in the competition.

"I am glad to see you all in the JINR pool," Director of the Archimedes V.N.Lomakin greeted the participants of the competitions and fans. "52 years old is quite a mature age, we have great achievements, we have awards, we have something to be proud of. We have decided to make these competitions annual so that we can meet with you every year and see the growth of your results. I want to thank the team of the pool, they work for your achievements. Happy birthday, Archimedes!"

Director of the Sports School "Dubna" P.A.Nasonov noted that a whole galaxy of athletes that showed excellent results have been brought up on this water. The fruitful cooperation of the School "Dubna" and the pool was noted in a letter of thanks that he handed over to V.N.Lomakin. V.A.Fomichev heartily congratulated his colleagues (Sports School in Taldom).

"It was at the competitions in Dubna that I won my first, long-awaited medal, with which my sports career started," M.V.Bakhur (Sports School in Dmitrov) shared his memories. "Today I am a coach here and I am glad to see that the pool still works. Happy Birthday to you!"

Traditionally, before the start of the heats, the awarding of athletes that completed the categories for the first time was held. They were Yana Tarabrina, Matvey Kudryashov and Anastasia Gomonova. Athletes born from 1952 to 2014 participated in the distances of 50 and 100 meters.

Head of the JINR Social Infrastructure Management Office A.V.Tamonov also conveyed his congratulations to the pool: "Our beloved pool "Archimedes" is celebrating its next birthday today, I congratulate the team of the pool and all the enthusiasts of swimming of our city on this holiday! I am glad that the pool is so popular among the staff of the Institute and citizens of Dubna and the staff members of "Archimedes" provide the opportunity to swim in the morning, afternoon and evening. Swimming is one of the most pleasant, comfortable types of physical culture and sports, so I invite everyone to the pool. Our doors are always open for you!"

The editors join in all the congratulations and wish that the flow of children that receive their first swimming skills from excellent professionals, coaches Andrey Ivanovich Sidoruk and Tatyana Viktorovna Badyul, does not decrease. Let not everyone grow into a great athlete, but keep the love of swimming for life. And we wish the pool to stay afloat for many years!
