Experience, achievements, initiative

On 9 September, the Russian-Vietnamese Scientific and Technological Forum was held in Moscow. The event was attended by Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (SRV) To Lam and the representatives of the governments of both countries, as well as Heads of the main scientific and educational centres of Vietnam. The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research was represented at the Forum by JINR Directorate members and the national group of employees from Vietnam. At the plenary session, JINR Director, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Grigory Trubnikov spoke about JINR‑Vietnam cooperation.

The event was timed to coincide with the visit of the President of SRV To Lama to the Russian Federation. The Forum participants were welcomed by To Lam, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Co‑Chairman of the Russian part of the Intergovernmental Russian-Vietnamese Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation Dmitry Chernyshenko, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov and Minister of Science and Technology of SRV Wu Hai Kuan.

Grigory Trubnikov spoke at the panel session of the Forum "Russia and Vietnam: scientific partnership in the field of advanced technologies" with a report on promising areas of Russian-Vietnamese cooperation.

The session was moderated by Deputy Head of the JINR International Cooperation Department Irek Suleimanov.

"Russian-Vietnamese Scientific and Technological Forum: cooperation in the field of strategic technologies" is one of the main events of the Russian-Vietnamese year of science and education. The Forum became a platform for fruitful discussion that allowed the participants to exchange valuable experience and to develop important decisions in promising areas of scientific and technological cooperation, for the exchange of advanced scientific achievements and best practices, as well as for the development of new joint initiatives in the field of research, innovation and training of highly qualified scientific personnel.

At the Forum, commemorative medals were presented for the contribution to the development of science in Vietnam. Academician Grigory Trubnikov was awarded this award.
