JINR Days in Armenia
The event was attended by a delegation of the Institute's Directorate and leading scientists from JINR Laboratories, headed by JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov, as well as representatives of national universities, research centres and the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia (NAS RA). On this day, an agreement on cooperation in the field of personnel training between JINR and YSU was signed at Yerevan State University.
Welcoming the JINR delegation in Matenadaran, President of NAS RA Ashot Sagyan congratulated the representatives of the Institute, "This is a special anniversary for everyone who has been associated with Dubna scientific cooperation, joint research and human relations for many decades. 70 years is a significant historical path. During this time, JINR has become one of the largest international scientific centres that has united researchers from different countries around fundamental scientific tasks. Today, the Institute is also an example of the successful development of a complex of megascience projects and efficient international cooperation. A significant contribution to the development and strengthening of JINR's international authority was made by our compatriots, outstanding Academicians Alexey Sissakyan that headed the Institute for many years and Yuri Oganessian that to this day, makes a significant contribution to the field of nuclear physics, as well as to the development and prosperity of the Institute as a whole."
Director of the A.I. Alikhanyan National Scientific Laboratory (AANL) Gevorg Karyan emphasized that the cooperation between Armenian scientists and JINR has deep historical roots. "This cooperation has made a huge contribution to the development of fundamental and applied research in Armenia, in the exchange of scientific experience and the training of new generations of Armenian scientists. Today, our cooperation is active, dynamic and highly demanded. I am convinced that the main value of our partnership is that it unites the achievements of the past with the scientific challenges of the present and the limitless possibilities of the future. New technologies, complex research infrastructure and ever-increasing complexity of scientific tasks require us even stronger international integration than ever before. In this context, our partnership with JINR is able to play an even more significant role in the future," Gevorg Karyan highlighted.
Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Grigory Trubnikov delivered a review lecture on JINR. He presented the recent results of research on joint scientific projects with Yerevan State University and the Institutes of the Academy of Sciences, as well as spoke about the history of cooperation with Armenian scientists, scientific and educational centres and outlined its current priorities. Grigory Trubnikov expressed gratitude to the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Government of the Republic of Armenia for holding JINR days in Armenia and to colleagues from NAS RA and universities of Armenia for organizing regular joint scientific events. "We have always met a reliable partner and friend in the person of the Republic of Armenia. Many thanks to you, dear colleagues, for supporting open international scientific cooperation," JINR Director summed up. He recalled that in 2022, the JINR Information Centre was opened on the basis of YSU, thanks to the work of which students and graduate students from Armenian universities undergo internships and practices both at the Institute and in the scientific organizations of Member States.
Plenipotentiary Representative of the Government of the Republic of Armenia to JINR Artur Movsisyan spoke about the changes that have taken place in the Armenian scientific community in recent years, including an increase in state support, the restoration of personnel potential, the renewal of research infrastructure and the increase of publication activity. "Until 2030, we have to turn this dynamic into sustainable development of the whole research system. The seventy-year history of JINR shows how much long-term scientific cooperation can give people, institutions and countries. Let the main continuation of these 70 years be the discoveries that we will make together!" Artur Movsisyan concluded.
