JINR days in Serbia were successful
The participants of the event were welcomed by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia Marija Gnjatovic that outlined the main strategic goal of Serbia in cooperation with the Joint Institute - the transition from the status of an Associate Member to the status of a full-fledged JINR Member State. In her opinion, this step will bring national science and technology to a new, competitive level.
The Minister of Education of the Republic of Serbia Dejan Vuk Stankovic voiced the priorities of his department in the framework of the development of cooperation with JINR. He proposed to focus joint work on two key areas: expanding academic mobility programmes and effective knowledge transfer by developing joint educational programmes for leading universities in Serbia.
Speaking to the participants, JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov highlighted the strategic nature of the multi‑year partnership that today covers 11 leading Serbian universities and research centres. He emphasized that the joint activities of the parties include advanced research: from nuclear medicine and radiation materials science to experiments at the NICA Accelerator Complex and the Superheavy Elements Factory.
On 7 July, within the framework of JINR Days in Serbia, official working meetings of the Institute delegation with Heads of national ministries and leading research centres of the country were held. During the visit of the JINR delegation headed by JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov, a meeting was held in the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Serbia with Minister of Education Dejan Vuk Stankovic. During it, the prospects for the development of joint scientific and educational projects and programmes of academic mobility, including the organization of specialized summer schools, were discussed. Focus was on the training of highly qualified personnel. The Serbian party expressed high interest in developing new master's programmes in "Nuclear Physics" for universities in Serbia, as well as in organizing double diploma programmes.
Engagement in strategic scientific areas became the leitmotif of the meeting with Directorate of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation. The key topics of negotiations with State Secretary Marija Gnjatovic and representatives of the department were cooperation in the field of space research, IT technologies, as well as the development of new research infrastructure facilities. JINR plans to increase the number of joint projects with Serbian specialists and expresses its readiness to take an active part in the development of the concept of the National Centre for Nuclear Research in the republic.
JINR Directorate visited the Vinca Institute of Nuclear Sciences, the Belgrade Astronomical Observatory and the BioSense Institute in Novi Sad, a leading European organization that implements advanced technologies in the field of agriculture.
