We are plunging into the world of hadrons

On 10 – 14 April, an intensive school in the physics of quark-gluon (hadron) matter, organized by MIPT and JINR, was held in Dubna. This event was an important stage in preparation for experiments to test the fundamental foundations of quantum chromodynamics at the NICA Collider.

The School was intended for 1-4-year students interested in particle physics. As part of the programme, the participants listened to lectures covering the theoretical picture of the microcosm: from the foundations of quantum mechanics to the properties of strong nuclear interaction. The techniques and approaches of the today’s experiment in high energy physics were also presented that gave participants a general idea of current research in this area.

Not without a practical part: the School's programme included excursions to the JINR Laboratory, where students were able to see the scientists at work.

This year, students from MEPhI, MIPT, Moscow State University and GOOD took part in the School. We hope that the knowledge and experience gained will become the basis for further research in the field of particle physics.
