Visit of the delegation
of the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia to JINR

On 24 July, 2025, Director of the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia (AIRR) Alexander Smekalin and AIRR Project Manager Dmitry Mitroshin visited the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research.

The guests learnt about the progress in the construction of the NICA Accelerator Complex during an excursion conducted by Deputy Head of the Accelerator Department of VBLHEP Anatoly Sidorin. In addition, the AIRR representatives met with JINR Director, RAS Academician Grigory Trubnikov. The parties agreed to discuss and work out possible mechanisms to support the development of cities with high scientific and technological potential that in particular, include the science cities of the Russian Federation.

Furthermore, during the visit of the AIRR delegation to Dubna, a meeting with Head of Dubna city Maxim Tikhomirov and JINR Director's Special Representative for Science City Sergey Kulikov was held in the city administration.

The Founding Agreement on the establishment of the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia was signed on 21 May, 2010, in Tomsk during the 13th Innovus Innovation Forum. The institution of AIRR was supported by the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under President of the Russian Federation and OJSC Rusnano.

The goal of the Association is to assist the economic cooperation of the regions-members of the Association, built on the integrated representation of their interests at the interregional, federal and international levels.

In the regions of the Association, there are over 300 objects of innovative infrastructure, including regional engineering centres, technology parks, industrial parks, business incubators, innovative territorial clusters.
