The 26th JEMS Training Programme started at JINR

On 14 April, the next International Training Programme for Administrative and Technical Staff JEMS-26 started at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. The programme is aimed at providing participants with a broad overview of the scientific research, international cooperation and educational activities of the Joint Institute, as well as with its history and social infrastructure.

The representatives of Kamchatka State Technical University, Far Eastern Federal University, Pacific State University, North-Eastern Federal University, Tomsk State Pedagogical University, Samara National Research University, North Ossetian State University, Nizhny Novgorod State University, Southern Federal University, National Research University "MPEI", MISIS University of Science and Technology, Tver State University, as well as the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Institute of Nuclear Problems of Belarusian State University participate in the training course.

Director of the University Centre of JINR Dmitry Kamanin opened the Training Programme with an overview lecture on the scientific infrastructure of the Joint Institute. He informed that this training course has several features. First, the participants are from a large number of universities and most of them participate for the first time. Secondly, the participants are very interested in career guidance and work with school physics teachers, in particular, through the format of information centres that is reflected in the programme. Third, for the first time, the base of the course is the new building of the UC that is well-equipped and regularly hosts a variety of educational events.

On the first day, the participants visited the Superheavy Element Factory and the NICA Accelerator Complex. During the week, the participants will learn about the research programmes and the infrastructure of FLNP, MLIT, DLNP, LRB and BLTP. On the final day, there will be a round table with Directorate of the Institute in the Scientists' Club where the results of the training programme will be summarized and the participants will share the results of the programme.
