Changing approaches to healthcare

On 25 January, JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov, together with a group of young scientists from the Institute, took part in the grand opening of the Head Reference Centre for Industrial Medicine in Dubna via video conference. It will coordinate nine more centres of industrial medicine of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency of Russia in the cities of the country where JINR is located. The event was held online with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova and Head of the FMBA of Russia Veronika Skvortsova.

Speaking at the gala event via videoconference, JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov expressed gratitude to the Government and FMBA of Russia for their support in the development of medical care in Dubna. "Providing high-quality and comprehensive medical care in the Centre for Industrial Medicine, established in Dubna through the efforts of the FMBA, is of particular importance for our employees," he emphasized.

As another example of joint achievements, Grigory Trubnikov noted the Vascular Medicine Centre opened in Dubna in 2023. Future cooperation plans include the establishment of an innovative Medical and Biological Centre in the science city based on the JINR superconducting proton cyclotron. At the same time, it is expected to open an advanced women's health centre in 2024 with funds from JINR and FMBA.

Head of the FMBA of Russia Veronika Skvortsova emphasized that biomedical science has changed the healthcare paradigm. "We have moved from treating the sick to supporting the healthy men. The ideology of comprehensive prevention has developed that has required modernization of the entire system. Together with the Government of the Russian Federation, with Tatyana Alekseevna (Golikova), we have developed a reference system of industrial medicine based on the establishment of comprehensive industrial medicine centres that are as close as possible to the workplace of people and production processes," she said.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova noted: "We have decided, starting in 2024, to introduce a section with a separate tariff in the programme of state guarantees of free medical care to citizens, when the employer entering into an agreement with organizations that work in the compulsory health insurance system organizes a system of providing medical care to working people."

Industrial medicine centres will allow enterprise employees to quickly and comfortably undergo medical examinations and receive the necessary medical care. In the science city, such a centre is organized on the basis of Medical Unit No.9 of the FMBA of Russia, a department of which is the Digital Health Centre in the Dubna Special Economic Zone.

The opening was attended by the General Director of JSC SEZ TIT Dubna Anton Afanasiev and Head of the Medical Unit No.9 of the FMBA Irina Larionova.
