First in the Southern Hemisphere

On 29 January, an agreement on the organization of the JINR Information Centre on the basis of iThemba LABS, the national accelerator centre of the Republic of South Africa was signed.

The document was signed by JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov and Director of iThemba LABS Makondelele Victor Tshivhase. The new information centre is intended to become a local representative of the Joint Institute and a means of informing the general public of the country about the results of international research achieved at JINR, including with the participation of South African scientists. Scientific and educational events, such as virtual tours on the basic facilities of the Institute, lectures by scientists from Dubna, online laboratories and workshops will be held here.
