Oganesson - Award for contribution to science

The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, at the suggestion of the outstanding Russian physicist Academician Yuri Oganessian, established the International Scientific Oganesson Award, as it is reported by TASS.

"It will be awarded in several categories: for contribution to development and outstanding theoretical and experimental achievements in the natural sciences. Activities to popularize science will also be estimated. We are going to name the first winners on 21 September, 2023," JINR Director Academician Grigory Trubnikov said, noting that the volume of the prize fund is not disclosed and consists of the scientist's personal funds.

"I would really like for young scientists and popularizers of science to become winners of the Award," Yuri Oganessian noted.

The Oganesson Award will be honored annually on the basis of an open competition; applicants for the Award can be either individual scientists, engineers and technologists, or teams of authors (no more than three people), whose contribution is decisive in meeting issues. Authors of research papers, published courses of lectures, articles, popular science and art works aimed at popularizing science are also nominated for the Award.

The media partner of the Award is TASS.
