Meridians of cooperation JINR and Serbia extended cooperation roadmapOn 27 March, a working meeting of the delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia with Directorate of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research was held in Dubna. The result of the negotiations was the signing of a document on the extension of the JINR - Serbia cooperation roadmap that defines the key vectors of joint work for the coming years.The Serbian delegation included State Secretary of the Ministry of Science of the Republic of Serbia Maria Gnyatovic and Deputy Director of the Institute for Nuclear Sciences “Vinca”, JINR - Serbia Cooperation Coordinator Maria Jankovic. During their visit to Dubna on 25-28 March, they learnt about the scientific infrastructure and the basic research areas of the Joint Institute, having visited the five JINR Laboratories: DLNP, VBLHEP, LRB, FLNR and FLNP. In addition, the delegation took part in the session of the Committee of Plenipotentiaries of Governments of JINR Member States and also attended a festive event in the Cultural Centre “Mir”, organized on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Institute. At the meeting with JINR Directorate on 27 March, prospects for deepening bilateral cooperation were discussed. Director of the Institute, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Grigory Trubnikov emphasized that Serbia is a long-standing and reliable strategic partner of the international scientific centre in Dubna. "We are ready to expand our cooperation in fundamental and applied research," Grigory Trubnikov said. “JINR can be useful not only in the expert evaluation of promising projects, but also directly in the development of key equipment. Advanced infrastructure is exactly what unites high-class specialists today and attracts talented young people to science." For her part, Maria Gnyatovic emphasized the high relevance of cooperation with JINR in view of Serbia's plans for the development of nuclear energy and peaceful nuclear technologies. "Our country needs to build up its human resources. Since we do not yet have our own large infrastructure, the experience of the Joint Institute and the possible use of the unique research facilities of JINR are critical for Serbian scientists," the State Secretary of the Ministry of Science of Serbia said. The parties focused on the project for the development of research infrastructure at the Institute “Vinca”. JINR Director expressed his readiness to provide Serbian colleagues with the required scientific and technical expertise, relying on the successful experience of developing and constructing similar facilities in the territories of the Institute's Member States. Following the meeting, a document was signed on the extension of the roadmap for cooperation between JINR and the Ministry of Science, technological development and innovation of the Republic of Serbia, as well as agreements were reached on holding joint events in 2026. So, in summer, JINR Days will be held in Serbia and in autumn, a group of scientific leaders and experts from Serbian organizations will pay a working visit to Dubna. In addition, the Institute received an official invitation to present its projects at the International Fair of Technology and Technological Achievements, as well as in the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO-2027 in Belgrade.
