JINR young scientists
at 9th CASEAN conference in Vietnam

September 28 – October 1, the 9th Scientific Conference on Natural Sciences for Young Scientists, Masters & PhD students from ASEAN countries (9th CASEAN). The conference was held at the Institute of Oceanography (Hon Chong Hill, Bac Nha Trang District, Khanh Hoa Province, Vietnam).

Ayagoz Baymukhanova (Laboratory assistant director for international cooperation, innovation and educational programs, DLNP) and Vladislav Rozhkov (researcher, DLNP) presented plenary talks as invited lecturers.

Participants gave presentations on their research: Le Binh An (FLNR) “Discovery of the new shape isomers in the middle heavy nuclei at FLNR (JINR)”, Nguyen Bao Ngoc (LRB) “Dynamics of II-1B, arginase, and NO synthase levels in mouse brain homogenates after proton irradiation at the Bragg peak in the short and long term”, Regina Kozhina (LRB) “The effect of DNA repair inhibitors on the formation of double-stranded breaks in B16 melanoma cells under the action of X-rays”, Truong Hoai Bao Phi (DLNP) “Development of a tunable monochromatic X-ray source for pixelated semiconductor detector calibration”

The scientific program of the conference turned out to be incredibly rich. The participants not only got acquainted with the current research of the ASEAN countries, but also met with the head of the JINR Information Center in Vietnam. A pleasant surprise was the communication with colleagues who had previously attended scientific schools and conferences in Dubna.
