Congratulations!

Sergey ZAVYALOV, an intern researcher at the Department of Elementary Particle Physics, has been awarded the Medal of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the field of nuclear physics for developing software for the Baikal-GVD experiment.

Along with his work at JINR, Sergey Zavyalov is a graduate student of the Department of Elementary Particle Physics, Faculty of Physics, Moscow State University. He won the RAS competition for the best scientific papers among students in 2024 for his thesis in the master's programme "Development of the NTSim software package for simulation of neutrino telescopes and estimation of the efficiency of registering neutrino events in the Baikal-GVD experiment".

The supervisor of the young scientist is DLNP Deputy Director for Research Professor of the Department of EPP Dmitry Naumov.
