Lomonosov Conference

The traditional conference on elementary particle physics is taking place at the Faculty of Physics of Moscow State University (MSU). This year’s event is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the MSU Faculty of Physics, the 270th anniversary of MSU, and the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). The programme of the conference includes the 15th International School on Neutrino Physics and Astrophysics, dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the birth of Bruno Pontecorvo.

At the opening ceremony of the event, JINR Scientific Leader Victor Matveev welcomed the participants on behalf of the Joint Institute. “It is a great honour for me to represent JINR, a team that unites scientists from around the world”, he said. Victor Anatolievich stressed the importance of the active involvement of the scientists of the Joint Institute in the conference work and the presentation of reports on research at the NICA Megascience Complex. He also mentioned the intensive work of the organizing committee of the conference, the program of which includes more than 200 reports covering topics from particle physics to modern cosmology.

The Joint Institute is widely represented in the conference programme: there will be 26 reports by JINR researchers. Their presentations cover the topics of modern research on relic and astrophysical black holes. Special attention will be paid to neutrino physics, namely the current status of large experiments such as vGEN, DANSS, and NOvA, as well as the search for physics beyond the Standard Model as part of these experiments. Theoretical aspects of the physics of strong interactions will be presented in reports on non-perturbative methods in QCD. A large part of reports is devoted to research at the NICA, LHC, RHIC Colliders and the status of the collaborations’ work on hadron physics, the search for dark matter and new physics.

The proceedings of the current conference will be published as a series of articles in a special issue of the Moscow University Physics Bulletin.

The working language of the 21st Lomonosov Conference is English. The event will last a week and will conclude on 30 August.

The conference is organized by the MSU Faculty of Physics, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, and the RAS Institute for Nuclear Research with the participation of the Skobeltsyn Institute of Nuclear Physics and the support of the Interregional Centre for Advanced Studies and the Bruno Pontecorvo Laboratory of Neutrino Physics and Astrophysics (MSU). The event is taking place under the patronage of Rector of the Moscow State University Victor Sadovnichy.
