Learning with passion

I want to come back to "Dialogue" again and again

This year, for the first time, I went to the School of young researchers "Dialogue" as an assistant and before that I had been a participant for several years. I have always been interested in what the organization looks like from the inside, so being here as an assistant is a long-awaited event for me.

There is a team of teachers that run the School. I really liked working in their team, because there was a friendly and benevolent atmosphere: everyone was always ready to help, suggest what could be done in a situation that was not obvious to a beginner.

One of the most important tasks of teachers is to carry out research projects on a topic that, as usual, goes beyond the scope of the school curriculum. Project profiles are specially chosen to be different from each other, interesting and unusual, so that children are enthusiastic about learning new material. Every day, students of the "Dialogue" spend a lot of time in classes: first, they immerse themselves in theoretical material and afterwards, learn to apply it in practice. At the end of the session, a final scientific and practical conference is held, at which the students talk about their work in the project and what results they got. For most children, this experience is very important and useful, because many of them are unfamiliar with performing on stage and presenting their work. According to established tradition, the best research project is awarded diplomas named after the founder of the School "Dialogue" A.N.Sissakyan.

Another not less important task of teachers is to conduct a variety of activities: from sports to strategic games. All of them are aimed at expanding the horizons of children and improving any skills, whether it may be sports skills, stage performances or the development of strategic thinking. Also, thanks to the events, children get to know each other, unite and by the end of the "Dialogue", all the participants become a truly friendly family. Even after the session, the students of the "Dialogue" arrange meetings, walks, play board or sports games. The teachers themselves prepare events very carefully, moreover, real stories are invented for many games. For example, one of the most beloved games is "Detective", where every year a new intricate and mysterious story is played out that the students try to unravel. I would also like to note that feedback from children about each event is very important for teachers. In our telegram bot, the participants of the "Dialogue" can leave feedback about each game. Our team always listens to them and tries to take into account the wishes of the students.

Probably, a lot more can be written about the "Dialogue". But personally, as one who has been here both as a participant and as an organizer, I would like to say that I want to return to our School again and again. "Dialogue" gave me a lot of warm memories and I'm glad that I got to know these wonderful people.

In conclusion, on behalf of all the participants of the "Dialogue" and Director of the School Sergey Shvidky, I would like to express my deep gratitude to everyone who helps us to organize the summer session of the School "Dialogue", especially to JINR Directorate and Administration of our city. I would also like to thank the Administration of the Sports and Recreation Centre "Gubkinets" for their hospitality.

For reference. The next summer session of the School "Dialogue" was held at the base "Gubkinets" located in the Konakovo district. 70 people took part in it. During the session, the following research programmes were implemented: the Aqua Monkey experimental physics project, the 3D Dialog computer project, BioLog - training in environmental and biological research using a field laboratory and modern computer technologies, "Lost in translation" - studying the basics of translation and interpretation studies, "Lifting mechanisms" - the investigation of the physical foundations of the operation of lifting mechanisms, the calculation of the transfer of forces with their subsequent development, "Natural paints" - learning about the techniques of natural coloring, "Kitchen.TXT" - an analytical analysis of figures of speech and structural components of text fragments. According to the results of the scientific-practical Conference, "Difficulties in translation" was recognized as the best project, its participants and the teacher were awarded diplomas named after academician A.N.Sissakyan.
