A sports tradition at the Institute

The XXIV Sports Games have been held in honor of the JINR Foundation Day. Today, sports fans can compete in ten kinds of sports. After a long break, to the delight of the Institute staff, swimming competitions have returned to the Games.

The Games started in February with football matches of the group stage, where 7 teams participated. In total, 25 matches were played, the final and the match for the 3rd place were traditionally held on 26 March. This year, the competitions have been very massive. In archery and rifle shooting there are records for the number of participants.

On 11 March, a chess tournament was held at the JINR Stadium "Nauka" in which 24 athletes from 9 teams took part. The MLIT team became the winner, followed by the VBLHEP team, the DLNP-FLNR team was the third. In the overall standings, E.Aleksandrov was the first, A.Makarov was the second and A.Bazhazhin was the third. Among children: M.Malakhova won the first place, G.Novikov - the second place, V.Aleksandrov - the third place.

On 16 March, darts competitions were held. 38 people and 12 teams competed: RCL, CPED, Kazakhstan-1, Kazakhstan-2, Kazakhstan-3, Kazakhstan-4, Azerbaijan, PCDD, SEO LASG, VBLHEP, SEDNPSS 1 and SEDNPSS 2. The first place was won by the CPED team (642 points), the second - by the Kazakhstan-1 team (587), the third - by the Azerbaijan team (578). Winners among women: O.Pryanishnikova (CPED, 211), I.Akhmadova (Azerbaijan, 191), Yu.Grishina (SEDNPSS 1, 170). Winners among men: E.Arynbek (Kazakhstan-1, 287), A.Solovyov (individual category, RCS, 280), A.Kazakov (CPED, 274).

85 people competed in rifle shooting - an absolute record for the number of participants. 15 teams competed for prizes: Russia, Kazakhstan, CPED, PCDD, Lipnya, SEO, FLNR, VBLHEP 1 and VBLHEP 2, FLNP, DLNP, DLNP-FLNR, VBLHEP SEDNPSS, FLNR 78, M/U 3559 and NICA. Also for the first time this year, the children's competitions were held. This is how the places among the teams were distributed: the first - Russia, the second - M/U 3559, the third - NICA. Among women, O.Dolovova (39 points) became the winner, the second was O.Kuldoshina (25), the third was Yu.Mitrofanova (17). Among men, the first place was won by A.Livanov (35), the second - by to E.Koval (33), the third - by I. Lapenko (33). Among boys, the best is E.Lesnikov (25), the second is D.Drozdov (8), the third is M.Mitrofanov (7). Among girls, the winner is D.Mamatkulova (4), the second is S.Stepanova (2), the third is V.Travina (2).

On 19 March, archery competitions were held in the shooting range of the Stadium "Nauka". As well as in rifle shooting, a record number of participants was set - 38 athletes. The following teams participated: VBLHEP SEDNPSS, Kazakhstan-1, Kazakhstan-2, Mongolia/Azerbaijan, CPED, DLNP-FLNR, FLNR 78, SEO. The first place was won by the FLNR-DLNP team (263 points), the second place - by the VBLHEP SEDNPSS team (223 points), the third place - by Mongolia/Azerbaijan (176 points). In men's individual category, three participants showed exactly the same result - 71 points and the judge decided on shoot off. T.Turtuvshin became the winner, the second was P.Pokrovsky, the third was A.Kazakov. Among women, the first was S.Morozova (59 points), the second was O.Komissarova (55), the third was A.Trishina (40).

37 athletes from 7 subdivisions participated in swimming competitions: VBLHEP, FLNR, CPED, Management Office, FLNP, SFSU, M/U 3559. The participants competed in the individual and relay races, then the results among the teams were summed up. The first was the FLNR team, the second was Management Office and the third was VBLHEP. In the relay, the first and the second places were won by the same teams, the third was the FLNP team. In the individual competition among the women born in 1984 and younger E.Kasyanova (VBLHEP) won, the second was M.Petrova (FLNP), the third was A.Troshenkova (SFSU). In the group of the women born in 1983-1974 the first place was won by S.Smirnova (Management Office), the second - by I.Osykina, the third - by O.Komissarova (CPED). In the group of the women born in 1963 and older, the winner was S.Gikal (FLNR), the second was I.Migulina (VBLHEP). In the group of the men born in 1984 and younger, the first place was won by D.Korobov (Management Office), the second - by A.Andrianov (M/U 3559), the third place - by N.Muravyov (M/U 3559). In the group of the men born in 1983-1974 A.Rukavishnikov (FLNR) won, the second was T.Loktev (FLNR), the third place was won by A.Kurilkin (FLNP). In the group of the men born in 1973-1964 V.Volkov (Management Office) became the winner, A.Bulakh (VBLHEP) won the second place, A.Sokhatsky (FLNR) - the third place. In the group of the men born in 1963 and older the best was A.Chernikov (FLNP), the second - A.Musikhin (CPED), the third - V.Tarasov (VBLHEP).

26 athletes from Moscow, Naro-Fominsk (Moscow region) and Dubna took part in kettlebell lifting competitions, 7 teams in total. According to the results of the competition, the JINR team won the first place with 231 points in the overall standings. The Dubna State University team was the second, with a total of 220 points. The team of the Moscow region (154) won the third place. Among the JINR teams, the LRB team won the first place (48 points), the VBLHEP team - the second place (42 points) and the FLNP team - the third place (40 points).

The semi-finals in football and the final matches in volleyball were very entertaining, there were new enthusiastic teams in these sports. 7 teams participated in volleyball competitions in the group stage matches: PCDD, M/U 3559, Nauka, NICA, Management Office, Veterans and FLNP. The FLNP team became the winner, the second was the Management Office team and the third - the Veterans' team. The best players were honoured: A.Darda, R.Aidanov, N.Kurylev, E.Pankratova, D.Kazakov.

7 teams also participated in the round-robin football matches: Kazakhstan-1, VBLHEP, VBLHEP-DLNP, CPED, FLNP, Kazakhstan-2, M/U 3559. The first place was won by the CPED team, the second was the Kazakhstan team and the third was FLNP. The best scorer of the tournament is V.Skuratov, the best goalkeeper is M.Erdauletov, the best defender is S. Nekrasov, the best forward is D.Shvidky.
