Throughout its history, the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Moscow Philharmonic has been among the best Russian orchestras and worthily represents Russian musical culture abroad. The Orchestra was founded in September, 1951. Its artistic image and performing style have been developed headed by celebrated Russian conductors. It is with this ensemble that Svyatoslav Richter's only conducting experience is related to.

Over its half-century history, the Orchestra has performed more than 6000 concerts in the largest halls and at prestigious festivals, everywhere meeting with a warm welcome from audience and critics. Almost all the major soloists of the second half of the 20th century have played with the Orchestra. More than 350 albums and CDs have been recorded, many of which have won the highest international awards in audio recording and are still in demand. Today, the Orchestra is one of the pillars of Russian philharmonic life.

Daniil Kogan, the grandson of the great violinist Leonid Kogan (his mosaic portrait is placed on the alley in front of the Cultural Centre "Mir") and Elizaveta Gilels, the nephew of the famous conductor Pavel Kogan performed in the concert. The outstanding violinist Daniil Kogan is a diploma winner at the Karol Lipinski Torun, Queen Elisabeth and Yampolski international competitions, winner of the Margaret Long and Jacques Thibaud international competitions.
