About nuclear physics - in the Far East
At the opening ceremony of the Conference, Rector of PSU Yury Marfin, Head of the Research Laboratory for Modeling Quantum Processes Alexander Mazur and Head of the Laboratory of Quantum Processes and Measurements of St. Petersburg State University Vladimir Zherebchevsky addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. They emphasized the historical significance of the Conference in Khabarovsk. According to the organizers, this step testifies to the high recognition of the Far Eastern physical school and the continuity of rich scientific traditions.
The plenary session of the first day began with speeches by the heads of scientific centres celebrating significant anniversaries in 2026. Director of the Research Institute of Nuclear Physics named after D.V. Skobeltsyn (SINP MSU) Eduard Boos highlighted the key achievements of the Institute in a message dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Research Institute of Nuclear Physics.
A review report "70 years of JINR" was presented by JINR Vice-Director Elena Kolganova. She told the participants about the international status of JINR, the research programme and flagship projects. "It is gratifying that the Conference with such a rich history and glorious academic traditions first came to the Khabarovsk Territory. This is a wonderful and exceptionally beautiful region. I am sure that all participants will like it here and we will come to you more than once," Elena Kolganova shared her impressions.
A chief researcher at the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics Rostislav Jolos made a report on the nature of quasimagic nuclei, the manifestation of pseudospin symmetry and the effect of neutron-proton interaction on the structure of nuclei far from the stability boundary. A chief researcher at the Laboratory of High Energy Physics Richard Lednicky spoke about the results of the BM@N experiment (Baryonic Matter at Nuclotron) at the NICA Accelerator Complex and plans for future sessions. In total, 226 specialists took part in the Forum and the JINR delegation has become one of the most numerous - over 70 scientists from Dubna came to Khabarovsk.
