From the history of the Institute
What the souvenirs told us about
A memorial plate and a medal issued on the 20th anniversary of JINR; an invitation ticket to the jubilee meeting of CP, a folder with the address and a programme of events in the name of L.G.Mezentsev; a specially issued envelope and a stamp, redeemed with the JINR special stamp - such rarities were handed over to the Dubna Museum by Alexander Ageenko that received them from the hands of L.G.Mezentsev's daughter. It turned out that Leonid Mezentsev was Deputy Minister of Sredmash on personnel. And it is not the only amazing fact noticed by the employees of the museum ...
From the point of view of today, according to the message in the group of VK "Dubna Museum", the souvenirs have a rather unusual look. They clearly reflect the difficult period in the life of the Institute: 10 flags of the JINR Member States on a plate and 10 coats of arms of the States on a medal. And all Dubna guides remember that the recently cut down huge flagpoles near the Hotel "Dubna" were 12. According to the number of the first founding states that signed the first agreement in 1956, as well as Vietnam that joined them six months later.
Who is missing? There is no flag of the very first Member State of the list in the agreement - Albania. Nowhere was it possible to find the information when Albania left JINR. If its representatives managed to work at the Institute at all. Presumably, in 1961-1962. There is no flag of the PRC that left the founding states in 1965. They have started to write about this event at last.
And there is still no flag of Cuba that joined JINR in the same 1976.
