About the mentor - with love and gratitude

The 90th anniversary of an amazing woman, professional, mentor of several generations of librarians Zoya K.ABROSKINA has been celebrated.

She came to the OMK-22 library (today, the Blokhintsev Universal Library) in 1966 and since then, her whole life has been dedicated to the boundless book world, to her native library - her second home. Thanks to her extraordinary tact, great diligence, readiness to help both colleagues and readers and most importantly, the ability to love the book and her readers, Zoya Konstantinovna became for many of us an example of the highest professionalism. Calm, friendly, competent, she always gave sound professional advice to her colleagues.

For more than half a century, she has never parted with the library, healing people's souls, giving the readers light moments of communication, sharing with them everything that the Word carries in itself. Possessing a rare ability to find a book for everyone, erudite, well-read, knowing almost six thousand readers by name, their problems, joys, hobbies, Zoya Konstantinovna was and is still an irreplaceable person. All-consuming passion for her favorite work, careful and friendly attitude to everyone was appreciated both by our readers and her colleagues....

I am a lucky man - I have known Zoya Konstantinovna closely for almost 60 years. The first time we met was in 1969, when the librarian Svetlana Shvetsova led me by the hand from the children's department to the adult department with the words: "She has already read everything. Now it's your job." And since then, Zoya Konstantinovna has become a model librarian for me. To become a real librarian, you need to really love the book. And I learned it from school and college years from a talented professional, she became my mentor when I crossed the threshold of the library in 1980 as an employee.

The writer Alexander Kotyusov once said about librarians: "They are as if from another life: intelligent, pleasant, smart." And these words can be fully attributed to Zoya Konstantinovna.

I would like to heartily congratulate my dear mentor and colleague on her birthday and wish her health, bright, happy days surrounded by her grandchildren...

Beautiful, beloved! You are with us.
You're like a light in the window in our life.
And in our heart, at the bottom of our heart
A love for you that can't be expressed in words.

Library Director in 1997-2020 Irina LEONOVICH
