First time in the Medical Unit

"Healthy Saturday": the beginning of a tradition

On 21 October, 672 people were able to check their health as part of the "Healthy Saturday" campaign, organized by the Medical Unit No. 9 of the FMBA of Russia with the support of specialists from the State Scientific Centre FMBC named after A. I. Burnazyan, the Federal State Budgetary Institution Research Institute of Pulmonology and the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Federal Clinical Centre for High Health Medical Technologies" FMBA of Russia, as well as the Medical Centre "DNA Clinic". This was the first time such an event was held in Dubna.

Medical examinations and consultations were simultaneously carried out by 29 specialists - neurologists, cardiologists, endocrinologists, gastroenterologists, pulmonologists, a vascular surgeon, a psychologist, a geriatrician, a therapist, an oncologist, a gynecologist and ultrasound diagnostic specialists. Patients, if desired, were able to undergo vaccination and diagnostic tests - ECG, ultrasound, computed tomography, mammography, fluorography and laboratory blood tests.

A light breakfast and oxygen cocktails were provided for patients and a play area was organized for children. Everyone was able to go on a tour of the territory of the Medical Unit, including the outpatient medical rehabilitation department with a hydrotherapy complex, there they could undergo any procedure of their choice. An audio lecture "Prevention of cardiovascular diseases" was held in the assembly hall that was attended by more than 50 people.

"Of course, we have observed increased interest in our event from the citizens and nearby communities. The day before, we carried out monitoring and assessed which specialists were in greatest demand among patients. Based on the results, the consultation was conducted by four neurologists, three cardiologists, three gastroenterologists, three endocrinologists and other specialized specialists. It is important to note the importance of this type of event for increasing the level of provision of advisory medical care to the population. We have already discussed with our colleagues the issue of the need to hold such events on the basis of our Medical Unit on a regular basis," Head of the Medical Unit No.9 Irina Larionova noted.

Curator of the Medical Unit No.9, Assistant Director of JINR, Corresponding Member of the RAS Grigory Shirkov noted the successful format chosen for the event. "Healthy Saturday is a convenient form of diagnostics of the body, when in one visit you can undergo a whole range of necessary studies and receive recommendations from medical specialists," he said. "This event is an example of the effective combination of efforts of doctors and medical organizations that should complement each other professionally to improve people's well-being. I think that such a comfortable format will help our citizens to develop a conscious and caring attitude towards their health and the health of their families."

The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research provides the Medical Unit No.9 with regular support in updating medical equipment and renovating premises. To increase the accessibility and quality of medical care, an agreement was concluded between JINR and the Medical Unit No. 9 on the development of supernumerary medical offices of medical specialists for medical care of the Institute's employees. In addition, last year JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov and Head of the FMBA of Russia Veronika Skvortsova signed a cooperation agreement that provides, among other things, for the development of programmes to improve the healthcare system for JINR staff members and their family members on the basis of Medical Unit No.9. Thus, in 2023, with the participation and support of JINR, a hemodialysis department equipped with 12 new generation dialysis machines and a vascular centre equipped with angiographer were established.
