"Military School of the USSR Atomic Project"

The Council of Veterans of Dubna Science City has hosted a presentation of the book "Military School of the USSR Atomic Project". It tells about the history of the Volzhsky Higher Military Construction Command School.

"The book is about the teachers of military and engineering disciplines, about the graduates that kept the gratitude to their fathers-commanders and gratitude to their native alma mater for a good and necessary profession, for the first steps on their chosen life path. I think that this edition will be of interest to everyone that is interested in history and local lore," Mayor of Dubna Sergey Kulikov said.

The School was founded in 1950 in Tomsk, two years later, it was relocated to Novosibirsk and since 1973 it had been located in Dubna for two decades. It was disbanded on 27 March, 1993. Today, the Dubna State University is located on this territory. In May 2019, a memorial to cadets of VHMCCS was unveiled here.

In summer 2022, a street and a passageway of Military Builders appeared in our city. And today, there is another tribute to the unique School, the only one in the country subordinate to the "atomic" Ministry.
