The Orchestra celebrated its anniversary

On 11 December, a concert was held at the Cultural Centre "Mir" - presentation of the book by E.M.Stavinsky "A City with a Symphony Orchestra". On 24 December 1990, the first article about the Dubna Symphony Orchestra was published under this heading in the newspaper "Vesti Dubny". And the book is a photo album of 500 photographs, summing up the thirty years of the Orchestra's creative activity.

Opening the evening, Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Orchestra Evgeny Stavinsky expressed gratitude to JINR and Publishing Department of JINR for publishing the book, introductory articles to which were prepared by Head of the city Sergey Kulikov, JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov and Scientific Leader of the Institute Victor Matveev. The Orchestra became the first municipal symphony orchestra in Russia. Head of the city that was present at the concert greeted the Orchestra and the audience. He noted that "32 years ago Evgeny Mikhailovich's dream came true and the Dubna Symphony Orchestra was organized. Not every city has its own symphony orchestra. DSO performs at different venues in the city, with different soloists, but always in a brilliant way and at a high level. I congratulate to all of us on the publication of this book and wish the Orchestra further prosperity!"

Part of the book, as well as the concert-presentation, were dedicated to Lyudmila Fyodorovna Stavinsky, a teacher, musician, public figure and initiator of founding the Orchestra. And the concert programme presented the versatility of the DSO's music: compositions by L.Beethoven, F.Mendelssohn, W.A.Mozart, P.I.Tchaikovsky, N.A.Rimsky-Korsakov, M.I.Glinka were performed, violinists Semyon Elizarov and Vadim Teyfikov, pianists Yulia Bankova and Igor Nosenko, opera singers Evgeny Stavinsky Jr. and Oleg Didenko soloed with the Orchestra.
