Visit of the delegation
of the Institute of Plasma Physics

On 7-8 October, a delegation from the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (ASIPP), headed by Director-General Song YUNTAO, visited JINR.

The visit began with a tour of the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems, where the delegation was briefed on the LINAC-200 accelerator and JINR's neutrino programme that is currently implemented within the framework of the Baikal-GVD megascience project.

The highlight of the first day was a scientific seminar dedicated to the discussion of promising projects and research programmes. DLNP Director Evgeny Yakushev welcomed the seminar participants, thanked his Chinese colleagues for their visit and emphasized the importance of such events for discussing international cooperation.

A researcher in the Engineering Department of the Institute of Plasma Physics Chen Yonghua presented a report on advances in the development of medical superconducting cyclotrons and proton radiotherapy systems. Deputy Head of the Fusion Reactor Materials and Components Department Xu Yuping highlighted the development of radiation materials science research. Head of the Diagnostics Department Liu Haiqing reported on progress in developing new techniques and systems for fusion plasma diagnostics. Chief Engineer of the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems Sergey Yakovenko presented the status of the MSC-230 superconducting isochronous cyclotron project. Head of Sector of VBLHEP Mikhail Novikov reported on the development of an inductive energy storage system for the superconducting magnet power supply for the booster and Nuclotron at the NICA accelerator complex. An engineer at the Laboratory of Nuclear Physics Vladik Yamurzin presented the capabilities of the IBR-2 pulsed reactor for studying the radiation resistance of materials and electronic components. FLNP Director Egor Lychagin emphasized the broad capabilities of the IBR-2 spectrometer complex and proposed exploring the prospects for joint fundamental and applied research.

At the conclusion of the seminar, Assistant Director General of the Chinese Science Centre Dong Shaohua emphasized the more than ten-year history of fruitful cooperation between the institutes. She highlighted research of the radiation resistance of materials for the development of next-generation experimental facilities and the development of advanced diagnostic technologies as key priorities for ASIPP, expressing confidence in the successful implementation of joint projects with JINR in these areas.

Guests were given tours of the IBR-2 research reactor and the NICA accelerator complex. JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov met with ASIPP Director Song Yuntao at the Laboratory of High Energy Physics to discuss prospects for strengthening JINR-ASIPP international cooperation.
