Happy Birthday JINR!

On 26 March, the JINR Cultural Centre "Mir" hosted a gala evening dedicated to the 69th anniversary of the founding of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research.

"Today, we have another birthday," JINR Director Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Grigory Trubnikov said. "Day by day, year by year, the line of history goes on in a small town on the bank of the great Russian river Volga. At one time, with the minds and ideas of remarkable people, first, an international scientific centre was established, later, the beautiful Dubna... I want to thank all JINR staff, all residents of the city that love and support the Institute." Director emphasized that the following year, the 70th anniversary of JINR and Dubna will be celebrated and proposed to organize a two-year marathon of celebrations of these remarkable dates. Director thanked for the support of the Plenipotentiaries of the Governments of the JINR Member States, JINR veterans and ardent supporters of the Institute that were in the hall. "I wish you all good health, good luck and success and a bright road ahead," Grigory Trubnikov added.

The traditional awards began with awarding the Chairman of the JINR Scientific Council Sergey Kilin with the Order of Friendship of the Russian Federation for scientific merits and conscientious labor. "There is no place on the globe where there would be such conditions for both young people and people of age as in JINR," Sergey Kilin said in response. "This is a place that attracts people and does a lot for the development of science."

Certificates of honor and gratitude were awarded to the JINR staff members. The awarding of school teachers and teachers of additional school education of Dubna city with JINR grants in 2025 was held. "What you do is invaluable and the way you do it is an absolute admiration. Thank you for our children," Grigory Trubnikov emphasized.

Head of Dubna Maxim Tikhomirov highlighted, "Summarizing the results of two years, I can confidently say that together with the Institute we can definitely do more. I believe that we are very good at it." He congratulated the JINR staff on the holiday, wished to achieve the realization of the most ambitious plans, to set new goals and to move only forward.

The evening ended with a performance by the Russian State Symphony Orchestra of Cinematography. Compositions by famous composers were performed. Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the orchestra, People's Artist of Russia Sergey Skripka said that last year, the orchestra celebrated its 100th anniversary. He admitted that he did not expect such a warm welcome from Dubna. In response to the applause, the orchestra performed three more pieces of composition.

Wishing further successes to JINR Director with regard to his re-election for the second term, to the staff that carried out the launch of session No.1 at the NICA complex, to the united JINR staff capable of overcoming any difficulties, on this positive note we... continue!
