Dubna - Debrecen

On 25 November, representatives of the Joint Institute paid a visit to the University of Debrecen (Hungary), as part of which a trilateral agreement was signed with the University of Debrecen and the Institute of Nuclear Research (ATOMKI). The document is aimed at strengthening ties in personnel training, academic mobility programmes, collaborative research, and organization of joint events, including training courses and conferences.

On behalf of JINR, Chief Scientific Secretary of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research Sergey Nedelko and Deputy Director of the Laboratory of Neutron Physics for Scientific Work Sergey Kulikov attended the meeting. The University of Debrecen was represented by Vice-Rector General Kбroly Peto, Director for Coordination and Strategy Okszбna Kiszil, and Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology Ferenc Kun. Deputy Director of the Institute for Nuclear Research Gйza Lйvai also attended the event.

Members of the delegation of the Joint Institute made a detailed presentation of JINR activities to the representatives of the University of Debrecen and ATOMKI.

“The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research is a unique example of integrating fundamental theoretical and experimental research with the development and application of modern technology and university education. Our main research areas are particle physics, nuclear physics, and condensed matter physics,” Sergey Nedelko noted.

As the representatives of the Hungarian side emphasised, the Dubna research centre has already maintained contacts with the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Debrecen, but they would like to develop the partnership.

After the meeting in the main building of the University, Sergey Nedelko and Sergey Kulikov visited the Faculty of Science and Technology and the Institute of Nuclear Research.
