A gaming course for parents is prepared in Dubna

Last weekend, an unusual event from the library's event organizer Evgenia Loboda, the final test of a gaming course for parents of children aged 7-12 was held at the Blokhintsev Universal Library. Volunteers were invited to participate in two games aimed at mastering tutoring techniques for identifying, developing and supporting a child's interests.

"I currently finish my Master's degree in Tutoring in Education at Moscow State Pedagogical University and the gaming course consisting of several games and a small theoretical part is my graduation paper. The course will be useful to parents of pre-teen children that want to help their children to master certain skills, to reveal their abilities and talents and to navigate the flow of information," Evgenia says. "A tutor is an intermediary between the educational system and the student. Many parents, taking on this role, focus on the skills and competencies that will help the child in his future profession and pay very little attention to the system of value orientations that are laid down in the family and are the basis of competence. There is little understanding of how to develop these same values, how to create family traditions related to recreation and health. How to develop in children the self-development skills that are so necessary in the future? At the same time, teenage children often do not know what they want, or do not want anything at all. And many parents, in the absence of the necessary tools and knowledge, are ready to send their child somewhere in the hope that they will do everything necessary with him. But it doesn't work that way. If you want to develop something in children, you should start with yourself. The course I currently develop is intended to become a support in this situation."

The entire weekend, parent volunteers devoted themselves to participating in two games: one was more training, the second was board games. As a result of the event, they chose the first steps towards their children's intended prospects, exchanged opinions and made a number of discoveries.

"The final test of the gaming course in Dubna was successful, despite the fact that the event had to be "compressed" a little and the programme had to be adapted for a two-day weekend, while the entire course, in fact, takes three days," Evgenia Loboda notes. "Before this, I have already tried to conduct these games on other participants and for me, it was also a very serious experience. Conclusions have been made and I will complete the project with an understanding of how these or those participants react."
