Visit of the delegation of Kazakhstan

On 2-3 October, a delegation of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NAS RK) under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, headed by the President of the Management Board of the NAS RK Kunsulu Zakaria visited JINR.

At the meeting, issues of cooperation in the field of personnel training, expansion of the range of joint investigations and Kazakhstan's participation in the JINR distributed computing network were discussed in JINR Directorate.

It was noted that the Kazakh national group is the largest in JINR. Currently, from 80 to 100 people from Kazakhstan work at the Institute. The number of dissertations defended by Kazakh scientists at JINR increases steadily. At the same time, the representatives of Kazakhstan are involved in projects in almost all laboratories.

The representatives of Directorate of the NAS RK visited the JINR laboratories, where they learnt about the Institute's flagship projects. During the visit, an agreement of intent was signed between JINR and the NAS of the Republic of Kazakhstan. According to the general opinion of the parties, the agreement will give a new impetus to the development of cooperation not only with the Institute of Nuclear Physics in Almaty, its branch in Astana and universities, but also with other scientific centres of Kazakhstan.
